Welcome to PDF2JSON API Service ("Service", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our PDF to JSON conversion REST API service, including any related services, features, content, and applications offered by GrzenPilot ("Company").
By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.
1. Service Description
PDF2JSON provides a REST API service that converts PDF documents into structured JSON format using AI-powered template generation and deterministic extraction technology. The Service includes:
- PDF text extraction with precise positioning
- AI-powered template generation using Google Gemini API
- Template-based JSON extraction
- Programmatic API access via JWT authentication
- Web-based user interface for template management
2. Free Trial and Commercial Use
Current Free Trial Period: The Service is currently available free of charge for a limited time as we establish our user base and refine our offerings.
Transition to Commercial Service: We reserve the right to begin charging for the Service at any time with at least 30 days advance notice to active users.
2.1 Future Pricing
When the Service transitions to a commercial model, pricing will be based on:
- API call volume and usage metrics
- LLM (Large Language Model) processing costs incurred
- Storage and computational resources utilized
- Number of templates created and maintained
2.2 Notice of Changes
We will notify users of pricing changes through:
- Email notification to registered user accounts
- In-application notices
- Updates to this Terms page
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To use the Service, you must:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Authenticate via Google OAuth or email verification
- Maintain the security of your account credentials and API tokens
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
3.2 API Token Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API tokens. All activities performed using your API tokens will be attributed to you. API tokens expire after 24 hours and must be regenerated through the authenticated interface.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
4.1 Permitted Use
You may use the Service for lawful purposes, including:
- Business document processing and data extraction
- Invoice and receipt processing
- Research and development activities
- Integration into your own applications and workflows
4.2 Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to:
- Process documents containing illegal content or content that violates third-party rights
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service
- Use the Service to process documents containing personally identifiable information (PII) without proper legal basis
- Engage in activities that could harm, disable, or impair the Service or interfere with other users
- Use automated systems to access the Service in a manner that sends more requests than a human could reasonably produce
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without explicit written permission
- Use the Service to process malicious content or documents intended to exploit security vulnerabilities
5. Data Processing and Privacy
5.1 Data Handling
When you use our Service:
- Your PDF documents are processed through our extraction pipeline
- Extracted text may be sent to Google Gemini API for template generation
- Templates and extraction results are stored in our secure database
- Logs and usage metrics are maintained for service improvement and billing purposes
5.2 Data Retention
We retain:
- User account information for the duration of your account
- Template definitions indefinitely or until deleted by you
- Extraction samples used for template creation
- API usage logs for up to 90 days
- Uploaded PDF files temporarily during processing (deleted after extraction)
5.3 Third-Party Services
Our Service utilizes:
- Google Gemini API: For AI-powered template generation. Your extracted text may be processed by Google's servers subject to their terms of service.
- Auth0: For secure OAuth authentication. Your authentication data is handled according to Auth0's privacy policy.
5.4 Your Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the right to process and extract data from documents you upload
- Compliance with applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Obtaining necessary consents for processing personal data
- The accuracy and legality of content you submit to the Service
6. Intellectual Property Rights
6.1 Service Ownership
The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by GrzenPilot and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 Your Content
You retain all rights to the documents you upload and the data extracted from them. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to:
- Process your documents for the purpose of providing the Service
- Store templates and extraction results on your behalf
- Use aggregated, anonymized data for service improvement
6.3 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, we may use them without any obligation to you.
7. Service Availability and Performance
7.1 Service Level
We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Specific response times or processing speeds
- 100% accuracy in PDF extraction or JSON conversion
- Compatibility with all PDF formats and structures
7.2 Maintenance and Updates
We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications to the Service at any time. We will attempt to provide notice of scheduled maintenance when possible.
7.3 API Rate Limits
We may impose rate limits on API usage to ensure fair access for all users. Current limits may be found in the API documentation. Excessive usage may result in throttling or temporary suspension.
8. Limitation of Liability
IMPORTANT: TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of extraction results
- Warranties that the Service will meet your specific requirements
8.1 Damages Limitation
In no event shall GrzenPilot, its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data
- Damages resulting from errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies in extraction results
- Any damages exceeding the amount paid by you for the Service in the preceding 12 months
8.2 Use at Your Own Risk
You acknowledge that:
- AI-powered extraction may contain errors or inaccuracies
- You should verify critical extraction results independently
- The Service is not suitable as the sole basis for important business decisions without human review
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GrzenPilot and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another party
- Your violation of applicable laws or regulations
- Content you submit to the Service
10. Termination
10.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination:
- Your access to the Service will be revoked
- Your templates and data may be deleted after a grace period
- Outstanding payment obligations remain enforceable
10.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without prior notice, for:
- Breach of these Terms
- Non-payment (when the Service becomes commercial)
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Extended periods of inactivity
- At our sole discretion for any reason
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective:
- Immediately upon posting for non-material changes
- After 30 days notice for material changes affecting pricing or core functionality
Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where GrzenPilot is registered, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

- Binding arbitration if mediation is unsuccessful
13. Miscellaneous
13.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and GrzenPilot regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
13.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
13.3 Waiver
No waiver of any term shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term.
13.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
13.5 Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, natural disasters, or failure of third-party services.
